First
we would like to say thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. It really
means a lot to us to know that there are so many people that care and want to
help. I know there are a lot of questions about what James has. He has CGD,
which stands for Chronic Granulomatous Disease, and this disease affects one in
a million people. It is something that he was born with. CGD is a rare disorder
that affects the immune system. His body is unable to fight against bacterial
and fungal infections, and this is why when he got pneumonia he wasn’t getting
better. The doctor in the hospital knew this wasn’t normal so he decided to
test for CGD and it came back that he did in fact have it. Now we have to be
very careful, 100.5 fevers will bring us straight to the ER and he needs to
stay away from germs, sick people, potting soil, hay, lakes, oceans, aged
cheeses, mushrooms, any indoor plants, and many other things. There is a cure
for CGD and it is a bone marrow transplant. We are having his blood tested as
we speak, but since he doesn’t have any siblings he needs a perfect unrelated
match. We are taking this a day at a time and focusing on what we need to do
right now for James. All we can ask for is a perfect match and your continuous
support. We want to thank you all again for all of your questions and concerns.
We will keep you updated.
